Norbord targets housing associations
Autumn 2006
Published: 22 October, 2006
Norbord believes housing associations want FSC-certified timber Panel manufacturer Norbord is targeting the housing association market with its portfolio of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified products. The company said housing associations were a growing force in the UK housing sector and were creating a trend of using environmentally sustainable materials. Technical services manager Jim Caldwell said architects had highlighted housing associations' environmental demands. “They [housing associations] want a clear and demonstrable commitment from suppliers that their materials are environmentally-sustainable and one of the best ways to prove this is to use FSC-certified timber,” he said. Norbord cited the rise of timber frame construction in the social housing sector as evidence of the move to more environmentally-sustainable housing. Related articles: |
