A new CPRE project highlights renewable energy and energy-conscious building techniques Buildings in Norfolk that are pioneering the use of renewable energy and energy-conscious building techniques feature in a booklet produced by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) Norfolk. A hostel, a church, an office development, schools, holiday cottages, a children's bookshop, and “ordinary” homes feature in Green Buildings in Norfolk – the first CPRE publication of its type. The project was led by CPRE Norfolk campaigns and development manager James Frost who would “love to see it rolled out nationally”. “I have already been approached to do a similar exercise for the whole of eastern England,” he said. When researching the book, he soon discovered 21 “fantastic projects” which used technologies ranging from heating from biomass to passive ventilation and increased insulation. Among the projects featured are a prefabricated timber house from Huf Haus – the first of its kind in Norfolk – and Ternery Hut, a timber framed building clad in untreated western red cedar.
