Simpson Launches New End Seal to Meet Building Regulations
Published:  08 February, 2008

World leading specialist in connectors and structural systems for the construction industry, Simpson Strong-Tie, has designed a cost effective way to help comply with the requirements of Part L (reduced air leakage) and Part E (reduced sound transference), with the launch of the Simpson End Seal (SES).

The SES provides a fast and effective solution to reduce air leakage without the need for mastic sealant through ‘pocket masonry’ in block walls, and allowing for a full 100mm bearing of joist. Once installed, it removes the need for mastic sealant around the perimeter of joists, subject to good workmanship when keying with mortar. Meeting the sound requirements of a joist cap as specified by Appendix A, Robust Details Part E Handbook, the SES provides one hour of fire resistance, in accordance with Warrington Fire Assessment report - 157020, and can be used on external and party walls. In addition the SES also meets the NHBC Technical Requirements and guarantees secure fixing, provided by 30mm Square Twist Nails. T: 01827 255662 W: www.strongtie.co.uk
