New Lighter Weight High Performance Restraint Straps Take Off
Published: 08 February, 2008
Since Simpson Strong-Tie’s Engineered Timber Division launched its new easy to handle, lighter weight Engineered Restraint Strap in August, demand has been ‘extraordinary’. Taking the engineered timber market by storm, this high performance, 1.5mm thick strap is proving to be extremely popular in replacing the traditional 5mm and 2.5mm thick restraint straps. This innovative strap is part of Simpson’s programme of new product development, which is aiming to launch 12 new products this year - all designed to make construction methods safer and faster. The HES & LES engineered restraint straps provide horizontal restraint to floors and roofs, and vertical restraint to wallplates. Load bearing capacity is as high as traditional straps, but the unique design enables it to be lighter to handle and fit. Simpson is the first connector manufacturer in the UK to embrace CE marking, and these new straps are the first restraint straps to comply with BS EN845-1and be CE marked.
