Bridge over the River Aire
Summer 2007
Published: 18 June, 2007
FSC-certified cumaru timber is to be used to construct a 130-metre long McDowell & Benedetti-designed pedestrian bridge that will “snake” across the River Aire in Yorkshire Engineered Wood Products Ltd (EWP), a joint venture between Ecotimber Ltd and Michael Beringer Woodworking, is to design and manufacture the decking that will form the basis of the curved bridge. Ecotimber director Hubert Kwisthout, said that the curved nature of the decking meant the Brazilian hardwood planks used in the construction would need to be produced off-site and delivered to site in panels. Around 60m3 of cumaru is being supplied by Precious Woods. Related articles: |
