For the first time Wood NI, the voice of the Northern Ireland timber industry, will be sponsoring the event and presenting an award to the project that demonstrates the best use of wood and design in construction.
The awards will be held on 8th May 2008 at the prestigious Waterfront Hall in Belfast 300 and will be presented by BBC Newsline and Let’s Talk host Mark Carruthers.
Projects can be entered in a range of categories according to size and value. There are also categories for conservation and residential developments.
Speaking about the RSUA Design Awards, president of the RSUA, Trevor Leaker, said: “These awards are a great opportunity for architects to highlight the exceptional standards of work in their field. I am looking forward to seeing what I am sure will be an excellent display of architectural projects.”
Maurice Brooks, director of Wood NI said he was looking forward to seeing some “excellent examples” of wood usage in the design and construction industries.
As part of its support for the awards, Wood NI has commissioned a special piece to be designed by last year’s winner of the Wood Marketing Federation Award, Stephen Ryan, for the project that demonstrated the best use of wood in construction.
