UKTFA hosts free networking event for South West firms
Published:  04 March, 2008

More than 100 people are expected to attend the UKTFA event

Businesses in the South West who want to cash in on the growth of timber frame are being encouraged to attend a free UKTFA networking event

The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA), the trade association and business support organisation for timber frame manufacturers and their suppliers, is hosting a free networking event for South West businesses.

In the fifth of a series of events around the UK, the UKTFA is extending an open invitation to all local timber frame companies and related supply chain to find out how they can join in the benefits of the timber frame boom - a fast growing green method of construction.

Experts will be on hand to explain what support is available to grow their businesses as well as addressing current issues within the industry, such as zero carbon homes and the latest technical guidelines.

More than 100 people are expected to attend the event, which will provide a platform for many new members to find out more about the Association as well as a networking opportunity for existing members.

Timber frame construction grew four times faster than any other building method in the UK. Timber frame housing achieved 20.6% market share of all new housing in 2006 and is forecast to grow more than twice as fast to 2009 over other methods of construction.

UKTFA member companies produced over 50,000 housing and commercial units in 2006, a growth of 8% from the previous year. The value of timber frame manufacture has also risen by 10.9%, estimated at £540m in 2006.

The UKTFA’s event takes place on Thursday 13 March from 10am-2pm at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon SN5 8UB and will also include a tour of the BuildStore facility.

It will be chaired by Lawrence Young, director and chairman of the membership committee of the UKTFA, and will feature presentations by Joe Martoccia, director & chairman of the PR & marketing committee of the UKTFA, and technical and training managers, Steven Streets and Ray Curran.
