Reporting record sales figures, Oregon Timber Frame is well above its target for the year
Buoyed by an increase in existing business and new customers, Oregon Timber Frame Ltd has revealed an increase in turnover of 30% to a record £19.5m.
The results show that the privately-owned timber frame manufacturer enjoyed significant growth not only from its established customers, such as Taylor Wimpey and Kier Homes but also from newer customers.
Despite long-standing price pressures in the marketplace, net margins improved to 4.7%, helped by efficiencies introduced by Oregon in its administrative procedures.
“With existing clients contributing to over half our turnover, it is important that we maintain our high quality of service to them,” said Rod Lawson, Oregon’s finance director. “We are also pleased that our newer customers have significantly increased their amount of business with us, proving that once we have carried out their work successfully, more orders have come our way.”
Mr Lawson said the big test for 2008 would be to continue to grow despite the tightening market. “Recently won new clients such as Bellway in Manchester will help to give a better balance to our customer base,” he said. “It will be especially important to maintain quality of service and make savings since customers are now looking for cost efficiencies. Finally, we will need to be flexible in our delivery as the market fluctuates.”
