Cedar makes Trafalgar Square appearance

Western red cedar is being used to 'wrap' the Canadian High Commission's London HQ
The Canadian High Commission’s imposing stone building on London’s Trafalgar Square is being temporarily wrapped in Western red cedar as part of an architecture exhibition.
An undulating 200ft long, 27ft high wooden wall consisting of small cedar sections is being erected as part of the “Vancouverism: Westcoast Architecture + City-Building” event at Canada House, organised to coincide with the London Festival of Architecture.
Architects and designers are being encouraged to visit the Vancouverism exhibition within Canada House, which includes models, displays and technical information relating to prominent Vancouver architecture, including notable timber buildings.
A large model of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics speed skating venue atttracted interest – showing how V-shaped glulam beams are being used to support a vast 6ha timber roof.
