Building goes Xtreme
Summer 2007
Published: 18 June, 2007
Cross-laminated timber triangles have been used to build a deconstructed Japanese T-House as part of the Festival of Xtreme Building (FXB) in Birmingham Artist Colin Pearce and architect Ranbir Lal devised the building to fit in with the festival’s aim to “blur the boundaries between art and regeneration”. The LENOtec panels were made using Alpine larch and prefabricated by Finnforest Merk. Event organisers want FXB to draw attention to the £6bn regeneration of Birmingham’s Eastside and “give people a sense of pride and ownership of their surroundings”, according to festival curator Dave Pollard. FBX, which runs between June and September, will also feature a host of other innovative displays, exhibitions and art installations. Related articles: |
