Timber frame specialist, Scotframe Timber Engineering, has put a contemporary twist on traditional styles to create its new Rural Homes Collection.
The designs are said to offer self-builders and developers homes suited to any rural landscape and particularly that of Scotland’s rugged west coast.
Starting with two and three bedroom cottages over one level, the range stretches right through to a five-bedroom family home designed over two levels.
Scotframe Timber Engineering consulted numerous planning departments at the sketch stage of its work on the Rural Homes Collection. This, it says, has not only helped create homes that are highly sensitive to their rural environment, but "should also help private and commercial developers avoid potential resistance to the house design when seeking approval for their respective projects".
“We have tried to do away with the hacienda style of house in the countryside that sticks out like a sore thumb,” says Mike Cruickshank, Sales Director at Scotframe Timber Engineering.
“By working with planning departments at an early stage, we have taken consideration of their comments regarding the overall style and particularly in relation to things like the size, shape and proportions of the windows.”
The contemporary approach means it is also possible for buyers to opt for a full or partially glazed gable end to their home, allowing light to pour in, and opening up the countryside views from the inside.
“Whether buyers are looking for a first home, a snug country cottage or something bigger for a family, our Rural Collection provides a practical and contemporary take on established design styles and will be a real addition to the countryside,” said Mr Cruickshank.
