Masonite joists being used in a floor cassette

Masonite signs deal with Bellway for I-Joists
Published:  29 May, 2009

Masonite Beams has unveiled its first solus supply deal with a national housebuilder.

Award-winning housing producer Bellway Homes will now be using Masonite I-joists in all its projects nationwide. Last year, the company sold 6,556 homes.

Britain’s fourth biggest housebuilder will also benefit from the news that Masonite Beams has boosted its UK distribution network  for its I-joists, which are now available from 16 locations via 12 stockists.

Before a major relaunch last year by owner Byggma Group, Masonite I-joists had had a relatively small presence in the UK for more than 20 years.

The company's distributors now include Eden Frame, Fforest Timber Engineering, Harlow Bros, Hathaway & Hoyle, Code 4 Roof, Total Floor Systems, Kingdom Timber Engineering, Sustainable Building Systems, Monmouthshire Timber, Thornbridge Sawmills, Touchwood Homes and Wyder Engineered Timber Systems.

The expansion brings to more than 500 per week the number of floor kits that the Masonite network can produce, with design capability now sitting at 5,000 designs per year.

Commenting on the growth of the distribution network, Neil Lewis, who heads the new Masonite team for the UK, said: “We're concentrating on developing a specialist network of distribution partners in order to facilitate the best design and engineering solutions for builders.

“The provision of extra services such as KPI reporting, quarterly design reviews, on-site training for installation teams and bespoke fabrication services is an important part of what we can offer.”
