Published: 09 April, 2010
Westleigh Developments is currently constructing a £400,000 timber frame vocational centre for Countesthorpe Community College in Leicestershire. Westleigh’s own Westframe factory in Enderby manufactured the timber frame for the 3,800ft2 single-storey building, which will house five workshops and one theory classroom. The facilities will be complete in time for the 2010/11 academic year in September. The college took an active interest in the build process by sending students to visit the Westframe factory, see the design for the new building and learn more about timber frame construction.
The building will incorporate photovoltaic panels, a heat recovery and mechanical ventilation system and LCD lighting Students will use the centre to learn about bricklaying, joinery, vehicle maintenance, hairdressing, beauty therapy and IT.
