Multi-use design wins timber hut competition
Published: 11 August, 2011
A combined miniature theatre, coffee bar, bike shelter and beach hut has won the BioRegional Quintain timber hut design competition at Middlesbrough’s £200m RiversideOne development. First prize of £1,000 was awarded to coffeETea, by the archiGRAD team of Adam Dalby, Jamie Nicholson and Paul Hegarty. A further prize of £500 went to runners-up James Perry and Claire Harper for The Smoke Hole. The huts will be placed on the RiversideOne dock redevelopment next year. Developer BioRegional Quintain says the project will be the UK’s largest zero carbon development. The hut competition was the brainchild of architect Will Alsop, who was also responsible for RiversideOne’s original masterplan. Related articles: |
