Panels being fabricated

Modcell launches office in US
Published:  25 August, 2011

Bristol-based prefabricated timber frame/straw bale building firm ModCell has launched an office in the US.

The opening of an office in San Francisco follows support and guidance from UK Trade and Investment South West.

The timber frame panels filled with straw or hemp are constructed offsite in “flying factories” often in barns close to the build projects.

ModCell has identified the US as a key market and has formulated plans to establish international licences for its product.

The company quickly signed up to the UKTI Passport to Export programme. In May it was announced winner of the design category in the UKTI Business Innovation Awards in America.

ModCell is also planning to expand across Europe and is taking part in a UKTI trade mission to Berlin later this year.
