The UK's premier competition for the use of timber in construction and interiors has extended its deadline to allow architects, designers, furniture makers and their timber suppliers another week to get their entries in
Organisers of the 2008 Wood Awards have extended the entry deadline to May 28 to give people a few more days to finalise their entries.
The annual competition for the use of timber in construction, interiors and furniture attracts a growing number of entries each year and in 2008 received a total of 222. The aim of the event, say the organisers is "to recognise, encourage and promote outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation in wood, the worlds most naturally sustainable material".
The building award categories are: Commercial & Public Access, Private, Structural and Conservation/Restoration. The project deemed by the judges to be the most successful from all these categories receives the top Gold Award.
In addition to the Furniture Award, the judges at their discretion will also give awards for the Best Use of British Timber, Best Use of Wood Panel Products, Best Offsite Manufactured Project, Best Innovation and Best Small Project.
